Athens, GA - Kathryn Lee Gossom Furen, died January 10, 2007.
Born November 25, 1918 in Cincinnati, OH to Robert and Cathrine Gossom, she was a former resident of Atlanta and St. Petersburg, FL and lived most of her life in Bradenton, FL. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Ann Yeomans. Kathryn was married to Robert Harlos and was the widow of Albert Furen. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. Her early years were devoted to real estate development on the West Coast of Florida. She enjoyed sewing, growing orchids, traveling and dancing. She loved to entertain her friends and family and her home was always open. Kathryn moved to Athens in 1989 to live with her daughter, Pam and husband Bill. Due to declining health, she resided at Morningside Assisted Living for the past 6 years where she received loving care by the staff.
She leaves a long legacy of loving family members including her daughter Pamela Howard and her husband William of Hull; grandchildren, Heather L. (William) White of Hull, Bradford T. (Kimberly) Howard of Hull, Debbie (Frank) Adams of Pickwick, TN, Tiffany Underwood of Selmer, TN and Gary Underwood of Bradenton, FL and 8 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Friday, January 12, 2007 at 2:00 PM at Tuckston United Methodist Church with Dr. Sheila Bookout and Wiley Carney officiating. Interment will be in Tuckston Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
