Kathy (Mize) Barr

Kathy Barr, 62, died April 20, 2013.
A native and lifelong resident of Athens, GA, she was a daughter of the late Myrtle Strickland and Walter A. Mize, Jr. and was preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law, Teresa and Johnny Lester.
Kathy was employed for over thirty years with Athens-Clarke County and was an active member of GAP Group and the GAAO. She also had worked for the University of Georgia and also operated a day care center. Kathy had a longtime affiliation with the Athens Women's Bowling Association where she was Past Director and Past Manager.
Memorial services will be Thursday, April 25, 2013 at 2:00 PM at the chapel of Lord and Stephens, EAST with Reverend Blair Tolbert officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Park.
Survivors include her husband of twenty-two years, Wayne Barr; four children, Tere Beale of Bishop, Genie Beale (Chris Ransome) of Watkinsville, Amanda Barr of Athens and Jason Barr-Active Navy, of Athens; two grandchildren, Kristina Beale and Jackson Ransome; aunts, uncles and many, many cousins. Also surviving are many special family members including, Sarah Fields, Sherrie and Greg Crowe, Sheila, Charles and Hayden Gregory, Joy Landers, Joi Marie McMorrough and Daelen McMorrough, and Anita and Larry Pinson.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
