Kathryn Willie (Self) Hammond

Kathryn Willie Self Hammond, age 81, passed away on June 11, 2014. Born in Easley, South Carolina to the late Homer E. & Maldow Ruth Self, she was the "mother" of the First Apostolic Church of Bishop. Kathryn was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, and eight brothers.
Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Rev. Curtis Lee Hammond; children, Wayne (Glinda) Hammond of Colbert, Kathy (Stewart) Beatenbough of Royston, Faith (Tim) Boswell of Colbert, Melody (Eddie) Brightwell of Panama City, FL, Joy (Mark) Nelms of Watkinsville, Dawn (Rob) DeVirgilio of Statham, Bethany (Kent) Holcomb of Bishop, and April Hammond of Woodstock; a brother, Samuel Self of Watkinsville; twenty grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11AM Saturday, June 14, 2014 at Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, West with the Revs. Tim Boswell, Bobby Calloway, and Tim Hammond officiating. Burial will follow at Oconee Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5-8PM on Friday, June 13.
