Athens, GA - Kathleen Browning Kinney, 92, wife of the late Rabun Kinney, died August 14, 2014.
Born in Toccoa, she was a daughter of the late Elmer and Ruth Peterman Browning. Mrs. Kinney spent the early part of her life in the Diamond Hill Community of Madison County and moved to Athens in 1956. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by sisters, Agnes Sorrow, Lillian Chandler and Mildred Harris; brothers, Horace, George, James and Talmadge Browning and close friend, Louise Hamby.
Survivors include her son, R. Dwight Kinney (Catherine) of Athens; grandchildren, Stacey Kinney Gay (Jason) of Athens, Scott Alan Kinney (Tracey) of Marietta and Nicholas Rabun Kinney of Athens; step grandchildren, Marc Gallant (Mary Alice) and Andre` Gallant (Johanna) of Athens; great grandchildren, Silas, Geneva and Ezra Gay and Ella and Madeline Kinney; step great grandchildren, Gus and Ollie Gallant and Mavis Nicol; special friend, Ina Miller; devoted caretaker, Joyce Burger and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Sunday, August 17, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Lord and Stephens Chapel, EAST with Pastor Lisa Caine officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Sonny Browning, Don Hammond, Phil Kinney, Alton Browning, Doug Hammond and Anthony Browning
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
