Kasey Jayne Strawder’s pain and depression caused her to take her life on May 17th, 2022, at the age of 30. She is survived by her long-term partner, Zeb Brookshire, her mother, Tracy Tarbox, brothers, Kristopher and Kleigh Strawder, father, Kris Strawder, grandmother, Jayne Hancock and Eunice Turbox, aunt, Tammy VanWambeke, cousins, Addie, and Mimi Driggers, best friends – Amanda McHugh, Heather Lee Cox, Zach Fordham, and Max Wilder, and beloved animals, Spec and Frank Frank.
Kasey grew up in Sylvester, Georgia, and was known for being an incredibly hard worker. Throughout high school, she played soccer and participated in competitive cheerleading. From a young age, she set her mind on attending the University of Georgia and threw herself into her schoolwork. After graduating with honors from Worth County High School in 2010, she attended UGA. After four years, she graduated with a degree in Finance and worked at the UGA vet clinic, the President’s office, and in HR in Athens. Most recently, Kasey has been working at Clover Leaf Farms, where she helped plan and facilitate events.
Kasey was an incredible friend and always went out of her way to make others feel special. She was a charismatic, passionate, loving, caring, and vibrant soul. Her passion for animals sets her apart, as she has had four cats, four squirrels, and two dogs. Everyone who knew her saw her love for animals everytime she rescued another little critter. If you ever stepped foot into Kasey’s home, you would see her love for reading by her extensive book collection filled with artwork and candles from her favorite books. Going to the opening nights of Marvel movie premieres and dressing up became a regular occurrence for Kasey and her friends. Lastly, her love of Halloween was seen year round. Every year, she planned extravagant parties filled with games, goody bags, and of course, fun drinks.
Kasey was a one of a kind human. We could write a novel about Kasey’s life. These are but a few of the things that made her the amazing person she was. There was no one like her and there never will be. The world is poorer for her absence. We can celebrate and carry on Kasey’s legacy by celebrating Halloween year round, caring for every little animal, and loving one another.
