Athens - Karen Meinert Duclos, 46, died June 17, 2006.
Born in Baltimore, MD on March 27, 1960, Karen was raised in Savannah, GA. She was a graduate of Johnson High School in Savannah and the University of Georgia with a BSEd and MEd . She was a member of Georgia Speech-Language-Hearing Association, American Speech and Hearing Association and St. Joseph's Catholic Church, and was also active in PTO at St. Joseph's Catholic School.
As a licensed speech language pathologist, Mrs. Duclos owned Children's Therapy Center of Athens, formerly Athens Speech and Language Services.
Mrs. Duclos was a Girl Scout Troop Leader and a sustaining member of the Junior League of Athens, and a former president of the Athens Area Cancer Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Ed Russell, Cornelia Sikes, and Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas P. James.
Memorial Mass will be Tuesday, June 20, 2006, 11:00 AM, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, with Father David McGuinness officiating.
Survivors include her husband, Mark Bradford Duclos; she was the most wonderful daughter of George "Buddy" and Patricia Russell Meinert of Savannah; children, Zachary Mark Duclos and Elizabeth Ann Duclos of Athens; sister, Traci Meinert James of Savannah; brother, George Russell "Chip" Meinert and wife, Mary "Lisa" Meinert of Savannah.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Athens Area Cancer Auxiliary or the American Cancer Society 1684 Barnett Shoals Road 30605.
