Watkinsville - June C. Calhoun, 76, passed away July 17, 2008.
A native and resident of Memphis, Tenn. for many years, Mrs. Calhoun was childhood friends with Elvis Presley during their mid-teen years in the late 1940s. Her years in Athens, Ga. were spent as a homemaker and devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Russell Larkin Calhoun Sr.
Funeral services will be Monday, July 21, 2008 at 2 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints, Athens, Ga. Interment will be in Oconee Memorial Park.
Survivors include two sons and daughter-in-law, Russell L. Calhoun Jr. of Athens, Ga., Ronald L. and Martha Frye Calhoun of Charlotte, N.C.; one grandson, Jackson Lee Calhoun of Charlotte, N.C.
The family will receive friends at the church on Monday from 1 p.m. until service time.
Lord and Stephens, WEST, is in charge of arrangements.
