Julius Marion Gabriel Jr

Julius Marion Gabriel, Jr., 82, of Winterville passed away at his home following a period of declining health. Mr. Gabriel was born in the Smithsonia Community of Oglethorpe County to J. M., Sr. and Amanda Tucker Gabriel on October 08, 1929. Mr. Gabriel retired from Westinghouse after 32 years of faithful service. He will always be remembered as being a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather as well as the love and care that he gave his wife the last years of her life. He was well respected by all that knew him and family was the center of his life.
Mr. Gabriel is preceded in death by his parents as well as his wife Lillian Gooch Gabriel, grandson Glen Gabriel, and daughter-in-law Brenda Gabriel. He is survived by his children Gerry and Gloria Gabriel; Gail and Marvin Wilbanks; Cecil Gabriel, and Wanda and Bill Ashworth; eight brothers and sisters; seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, April 21, 2012 from 1:00 PM until 4:00 PM. Funeral services will be on Sunday, April 22, 2012 at 2:00 PM in the funeral home chapel with the Revs. Joe Davis and John Parker officiating. Burial will follow at Winterville Cemetery .
Jeff Wilkins, Jake Ashworth, Jason Dangerfield, Scott Gabriel, Josh Ashworth, and Trent Ashworth will serve as pallbearers. Melissa McGarity, Tonya Dangerfield, and Jeremy Wilkins, SSGT,. USMC, will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial donation may be made to the charity of ones choice.
