Julia Mae Peterson, 87, died February 13, 2009.
A native of Clarke County, GA, she was a daughter of the late John Carlton and Dora Sims Payne. She retired after more than twenty years of employment in the Gaines School Road Elementary School Cafeteria and was a charter member of Johnson Drive Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, February 17, 2009 at 2:00 PM at Johnson Drive Baptist Church with Rev. Jeff Wells officiating. Interment will be in Oconee Hill Cemetery.
Survivors include her husband, Grant G. Peterson, Jr.; children, Grant G. (Cindy) Peterson, III of Townsend, GA, John (Wanda) Peterson of Marietta, GA, Karen (Greg) Holland of Athens; "adopted" daughter, Pat and husband, Danny of Lebanon, VA; five grandchildren, Paul, Wendy, Brandi, Erik, and Joshua; great granddaughter, Magdalene.
The family will receive friends Monday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
Flowers are optional. Memorials may be made to Johnson Drive Baptist Church.
