Judy Manzi died on June 27, 2022 after a long illness.
She was born on August 18, 1942 in Cincinnati, OH, the daughter of Richard and Mary Merling. She is survived by her husband, Jerry Manzi; her sons Steve and Chris; her daughter-in-law Joanna Parkman Manzi; her grandsons Matt and Jonathan Manzi; her sister Marcia Foltz; her niece and nephew Katy & Jeremy Gillis, and her many other nieces and nephews.
Judy attended the University of Cincinnati and was a member of the Theta Phi Alpha sorority. Her first job out of school was with The Federal Reserve Bank and then she had a long career with Estee Lauder and Saks 5th Avenue.
Judy’s hobbies were cooking, traveling, and bridge. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandsons at their many academic and athletic events.
She loved traveling and visited many countries throughout Europe as well as almost all the countries, states and territories in North America. Her cooking was legendary within the family and always with an emphasis on fresh ingredients. After moving to Athens in 2015, she became an avid bridge player and cherished getting to know the many players with whom she became friends.
During the last year Judy also came to appreciate the wonderful medical care throughout the Athens area – particularly through institutions like University Cancer & Blood Center, Piedmont Athens Regional Hospital, St. Mary’s Hospital and Compassus – along with all their wonderful medical personnel and caregivers.
In the big picture, Judy loved her Catholic faith and it provided her with great peace, comfort and joy, particularly in the last 12 months of her life.
