Judith Ann Page McGill (Judy), 73, of Athens, GA died on Friday, April 24, 2020 in her home with loving family. Judy is preceded in death by her parents; the late Mildred Reed Johnson (2003) and Clarence Almond (Tater) Page (1955); her brother, Clarence Patman Page (1989); as well as her son, David Reynolds McGill (1999).
Judy is survived by her loving and devoted children; Paula Page McGill Pleger and her husband Steve from Snellville, GA, and Kevin Paul McGill from Athens, GA. She had three grandchildren; Kristin Alivia Casper (32), Tyler Patrick McGill (25), and Sophia Page Pleger (24). All of whom will miss her tremendously and have loved her unconditionally.
Mrs. Judy McGill retired from Reliance Electric/Rockwell-Baldor where she worked from the age of 24 until she retired at the age of 67. In the workplace, Judy was respected for her strength, hardworking values, and commitment to getting it done. However, she will be best remembered and admired for her love and dedication to family and friends. As a single, working parent and the head of her household, Judy selflessly devoted herself to the care of her children and later for the care of her elderly mother. Overcoming all obstacles, Judy was remarkable in her dedication to the health and happiness of her youngest son David, who was born in 1969 with a severe birth defect and preceded her in death at the age of 29. She was blessed with 3 loving and adoring grandchildren, Kristin, Tyler, and Sophia, who represent the best of what she leaves behind to carry on her memory, values, and passions. In her few free moments, Judy enjoyed reading, sewing, gardening, and fishing. She was an exceptional southern cook known best for her delicious homemade biscuits, banana pudding, German chocolate, and pound cake. Over the past 10 years, Judy’s constant companion has been her little white poodle, Puddin’. She shared each of these passions with family and friends. A loving mother to all who knew her, unfaltering in her independence and strength, Judy’s life exemplified courage and commitment. Judy battled and defeated cancer, but when the good Lord called her home, she wasted no time in reuniting with her beloved youngest son, David. She will be missed and remembered.
