Juanita E. Ash, 95, of Bishop, died on Saturday, April 9, 2022.
Born in Atlanta to Ernest Elder Sr. and Berta Dellinger Elder, Juanita was raised in Oconee County and graduated from Watkinsville High School in the class of 1943. She graduated from Athens Business College in 1944 and worked as a bookkeeper, most recently for the Oconee County Department of Family and Children’s Services, from which she retired. She was a charter member of Briarwood Baptist Church and was a deeply spiritual woman for whom her church and studying the Bible were most important. She taught Sunday School for 75 years. Along with her church, she was active in her community and traveled the world. Somehow she found the time to also be a great wife, mother, sister, and grandmother.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow W. Ash, and a brother, Ernest Elder Jr.
Juanita is survived by her four children: Waymon “Wally” Ash (Betty Sue), Linda Haygood (Randy), Gloria Faulkner (Tony), and Beverly Shivar (David); her two sisters, Joan Lee and Ernestine Malcolm; ten grandchildren and numerous great- and great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 13, at Briarwood Baptist Church at 2:00 p.m. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Briarwood Baptist Church, 1900 Robinhood Rd, Watkinsville, GA 30677.
