Joyce Marie Shuttle, 75, of Statham, GA, died October 1, 2016 peacefully in her sleep after having suffered numerous illnesses over the past several years.
A native of Bristol, VA, she was preceded in death by her parents, Gene Stigall and Mary Thomas Talley, her husband, Billy G. Shuttle and several aunts and uncles. She was a graduate of Virginia High and former employee of the Sperry Corporation.
Mrs. Shuttle resided in Bristol, TN and VA for the majority of her life and after her husband's retirement they moved to The Villages of Lady Lake, FL, where she and her husband lived for 24 years until his death. Mrs. Shuttle held several offices within the community including two years as the President of the Community.
Prior to their retirement they lived in numerous States and Europe where her husband programed mainframe computers for the United States Air Force's Air Defense Systems.
She and her husband were avid golfers and much to her husband's disbelief, who had played golf for over forty years, she scored a hole-in-one, after having only played for a couple of years. Mrs. Shuttle moved to Georgia after her husband's death six years ago. Joyce and Bill had many attributes, one of which they never met a stranger, and always lent a helping hand to others.
Survivors include her brother and sister in law, Larry and Karen Talley of Statham; brother in law and sister in law, Judy and Fred Shuttle; nieces and nephews, Larry Talley, Kristin Talley, Gina Yatez, Carol Bains and Kevin Shuttle; great nieces and nephew, Melanie Swiney Lee, Danielle Vuckovic and Brock Baines; great great nieces and nephews, Devin, Anna, Lindsey and Seth any many loving friends.
Memorial services will be Saturday, October 8, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Lord and Stephens Chapel, WEST with Rev. Ron Hieber officiating with a reception following.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
