Joyce Mathews

Joyce Mathews, 68, wife of the late Charles Mathews, died Monday, December 28, 2015. A native of Athens, she was the daughter of the late Dorsey Bray and Myrtice Moon Bray. In addition to her husband and parents, Joyce was preceded in death by her daughter Christa Mathews Sharp and brother, Ricky Bray. She was a homemaker and member of Bethany Baptist Church. Joyce was very witty. She was a very loving mother, grandmother and truly loved her family. Survivors include her children: Kevin Mathews, Sabrina (David West) Mathews, Jennifer (Wayne) King, ; son in law: Todd Sharp; brother: Jerry (Peggy) Bray; sister: Linda (Sonny) Hansford; eleven grandchildren, three great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at 11AM at Bethany Baptist Church with Rev. Derek Paul, Eric Bunch and Russell Bruce officiating. Burial will follow at the Mathews Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 until 8 Tuesday at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted. Lord & Stephens East is in charge of arrangements.
