Joyce Ellen Fox

Joyce Ellen Fox, 73, wife of Richard John Fox, passed away peacefully Sunday, October 14, 2018 at her residence in Athens, GA.

She will be remembered for her sharp humor, welcoming demeanor, and her love of the beach, animals, fashion, and sports—especially the New York Rangers NHL Hockey Team. She had a passion for traveling and loved to visit New York City. She was an avid bowler, and was a member of the University of Georgia women’s bowling league for over 30 years.

Born in Cincinnati, OH, she was the daughter of the late John Kenneth Mackenzie and Martha Hafer Mackenzie.  Prior to starting her family, Joyce worked for Union City Life Insurance.  After the birth of her two daughters, Tracy and Danielle, she became a devoted mother who routinely volunteered for various school and extra-curricular activities, and attended all of her daughters’ sporting events, including cross country races, tennis matches, and soccer games.

In addition to her husband Rich, she is survived by her daughters: Tracy Fox Shannon and Danielle Marie Fox; granddaughters: Brooklynn Taylor Shannon and Mackenzie Reese Shannon; her twin brother and sister in law: John "Jack"Robert and Georgette Nancy Mackenzie; nephews: Brad (Rebecca) Mackenzie and Jack (Lori) Mackenzie, Jr; sister in law and brother in law: Maureen Elizabeth (Brian) McCarthy; nieces and nephews: Kathy (Anthony) Spinola, Johnny (Kristin) Doherty, Erin Doherty, Brian (Sarah) Doherty, Quentin (Melissa) McCarthy, Jared McCarthy, and many beautiful grand nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 on Friday, October 19, 2018 at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
