Joshua Lee Dyson

Joshua Lee Dyson, 37, fiancé of Brittany Andrews of Athens, passed away unexpectedly at home on Saturday, February 26, 2022.

He was born in Athens on August 20, 1984, son of Marjorie (Johnson) Dyson and James Dyson.  Josh, as he was known to all his family and friends, grew up in Athens and graduated from Clarke Central High School at the age of 17.  He was an Eagle Scout—the highest rank attainable in scouting.  He attended Athens Tech briefly after high school.  All of the skills he learned, along with skills learned from his parents, eventually led him into becoming a Professional Tradesman.  He was currently in the process of working towards a Home Inspection license.  He was able to tile a bathroom one day and build a doghouse the next.  Josh had a true zest for life and flourished in the outdoors.  He loved woodworking, glass blowing, campfires, Star Wars, movies, video games, country music, cooking and animals.

In addition to his fiancé and parents, he is survived by his sister Jennifer Phillips and husband Richard of Swainsboro, Georgia; brother James Dyson and wife Faye of LaPlata, Maryland; brother Justin Dyson and partner Victoria Dyson of Watkinsville, Georgia; grandmother Patricia Johnson of Orillia, Ontario, Canada; nephews Lawrence and Peter of LaPlata, Maryland; and niece Sloane of LaPlata, Maryland.  He is also survived by many loving aunts, uncles and cousins from around the continental US and Hawaii, and Canada.

Josh will be sorely missed by his precious dogs Banner, Possum, Lana, Cosmic, Baboo and Miami.

A celebration of Josh's life will be held at 11:30am on Friday, March 4, in Sandy Creek Park Pavilion #1, 400 Bob Holman Road, Athens, followed by a private luncheon for the family.
