Mr. Joseph Peter Tereshinski, age 89, died Sunday, June 9, 2013.
Joe was the son of the late Walter and Sophia Tereshinski of Glen Lyon, PA. After serving as the Captain of the All Anthracite Squad High School football team at Newport High School, the three-sport high school athlete attended the University of GA graduating with a degree in Business Administration. Though his football career was interrupted by service in Germany during World War II, he played in the Orange, Rose, Oil and Sugar Bowls and Chicago All Star Game. He was first married to his college sweetheart Martha Walraven who died in 1956. Joe played and coached with the Washington Redskins from 1947 - 1960 and spent his career with several Washington area car dealerships.
Joe was happily married for over 55 years to the late Gertrude Tereshinski and is survived by three children: Ada Tereshinski of Austin, TX, Joe Tereshinski of Athens, GA and Walter Tereshinski of Evans, GA; sister Pauline Kashefski of Sheatown, Newport Township, PA; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Devoted to his family, the University of GA, St. Bartholomew's Catholic Church, and his community, Joe had a big heart and offered his loyal friendship to many people through the years.
A private family memorial will be held.
