Joseph Bernard Sherwin, 89 years, 364 1/2 days, went suddenly to be with the Lord, June 9,2021.
He was born in Rochester NY on June 10, 1931, son of the late Ethan Sherwin and Grace Sherwin Colby.
Joe graduated in 1950 from Wyoming Central School. He married “the only girl he’d ever love” a few months later. He and his late wife, Marjorie, ran a dairy farm in Wyoming for many years raising 7 children. They were members of the West Middlebury Baptist Church, and were involved in many community events. Later moving to Elba, he drove truck for Harris Seed Co., and then moved to Wolcott where he worked many years at Wolcott Corn. Finally, they moved to Watkinsville Ga. where he enjoyed dragging the arena and mowing the grass on the farm.
Joe was probably the hardest working man you knew. He started working as a young boy, and being retired to him was working 40 hours a week. He loved his family, John Deeres and SU basketball! He also loved to talk to people and had many friends as a result of that!
Joe is predeceased by his wife, Marjorie Brown Sherwin, a son, Darrel Sherwin, and a sister, Shirley Stothers.
He is survived by three sons, Jeff (Sally) Sherwin, Steve (Becky) Sherwin, and Herm (Tianee) Sherwin; three daughters, Rebecca Sherwin, Lois (Gary) Sheffield, Mary (Sal) Pellingra, a daughter-in-law, Diane Sherwin, a sister, Catherine (Ed) Bzduch, 17 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
Service will be held at West Middlebury Baptist Church on August 7th at 2:00 pm.
