Watkinsville - Joseph Arthur "Bootie" Brown, Jr., 66, died Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at Landmark Hospital.
Funeral services will be held 1PM Friday, May 15, 2009 at Oconee Chapel Funeral Directors. Pallbearers will be Daniel Hall, Charlie Skelton, Buddy Hammond and Calvin Bentley. Burial will follow at Oconee Memorial Park.
Born in Athens, he was the son of the late Joseph Arthur Brown Sr., and Fannie Geeter Brown. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers Bobby and Jack Brown. He retried from the Horticulture Department from the University of Georgia after 33 years and was a member of Ross Chapel Church. Joe was a longtime member of the Lions Club and loved to read.
Survivors include his wife Annie Byrd Brown; children: Denise Skelton of Watkinsville, Sherry Rudowske of Statham, Stan Kile of Sierra Vista, AZ; brothers: Jimmy and John Brown; sisters: Frances Bentley and Susie Brown and six grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Thursday, from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to American Diabetes Association.
