Joseph Azain, 92, currently a resident at Highland Hills and formerly of Wilkes-Barre, passed away Tuesday, July 31, 2012, at the St. Mary's Hospice House in Bogart, Georgia. Born September 30, 1919, he was the son of the late John and Mary Azain of Wilkes-Barre, PA. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army Signal Corps and stationed in Puerto Rico. He retired from the US Postal Service in 1979. Joe enjoyed gardening in his earlier years. He was an avid sports fan and particularly enjoyed watching college football and Braves baseball. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary, and his 8 brothers and sisters. He is survived by his son, Michael and wife Linda, Watkinsville, Georgia, grandaughters, Katherine, (Charlotte, NC) and Sarah Azain (Watkinsville), and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation and funeral services will be held in Wilkes-Barre, PA, with local arrangements being made by Lord and Stephens, WEST. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be sent to the St. Philothea Greek Orthodox Church, or St. Mary's Hospice House.
