Jordan Caleb Hudspeth, born March 30, 1990, died at the young age of 29. He did not mean to leave us, and there is a gaping hole in our hearts and lives where he should be. Jordan loved others fiercely, with no holds barred. He was a faithful friend, son, brother, and cousin, and he never made a distinction between family he was born with and family he chose. Jordan was complex and unique – one day you might find him at an art show with his mom, the next he was out on the lake fishing with his friends, or maybe at church covered head to toe in dirt from work. He never gave up, and it was this quality that earned him his childhood nickname, “Ornery.” He was determined to change the world around him. Jordan was gentle and kind. He wanted to help others, and he did, in big ways and small ways. Jordan always had a passion for art and working with his hands. This past year was a joy for those who considered Jordan family, as we watched him discover his talent and love for welding. In welding, Jordan found a way to meld all the parts of himself – the artist, the problem solver, the helper, and the worker. Our loss is all the more bitter because we saw the trajectory of his life, and it was good. Jordan will be missed forever by his family: his father Jeff Hudspeth, his mother Marianna Hudspeth, his brother Jared Hudspeth, his sisters Mary Frances Russell, Lou Anne Middlemiss, and Sarah Grace Dalton, his extended family, and all those he chose as family in life. His big brother and namesake, Caleb Hudspeth, preceded him in death.
Jordan’s family requested that in lieu of flowers memorials be made to Open Door Ministries, 176 Debbie Drive, Adel, GA 31620 or Penfield Addiction Ministries, 15320 US 129, Alapaha, GA 31622. A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 31, 2019 at 2PM at Lord and Stephens West Chapel.
