Watkinsville - Jonathan David Maxwell, 29, died Thursday, February 11, 2010, in Baltimore, Md.
Born in Athens, Ga., he was the son of David and Linda Maxwell of Watkinsville. Jonathan was the owner and operator of River Rock Landscaping. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force, where he achieved the rank of Senior Airman and was a Crew Chief on a C5. He was a fire fighter for the Newton County Fire Department for two years. He attended Grace Fellowship Church.
Survivors, in addition to parents, include his sister and brother-in-law, Rachel and Edward Pethel of Commerce; nephew, Zane Pethel; and maternal grandmother, Jean Grist of Toccoa.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 17, 2010, at 3 p.m. at Grace Fellowship Church with Rev. Tony Vismor officiating. Pallbearers will be Scott Harrison, Paul Landis, Edward Pethel, Phillip Jenkins, Nathan McEver, Dan Deaton, Jeremy Morris and Neal Phelps.
The family requests that memorials may be made to Oconee State Bank where a memorial fund has been set in Jonathan's name or to the funeral home to help with funeral cost of Jonathan's funeral services.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 16, 2010, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
