Athens - Johnny Toney, 83, died Friday, October 27, 2006 at his residence.
He was raised in the Athens area, the son of John Newton and Isa Hooper Toney. He is survived by his loving wife, Natalie and beloved dog, Trudy. He is also survived by his brothers J.P. Toney of Monroe and R.T. Toney of Arnoldsville and numerous nieces and nephews.
Johnny served in the United States Navy during Word War II and spent 30 years working for General Motors in the Doraville plant. After retiring, he and his wife moved to Maxeys where he took part in the community activities and was an active member of the Maxeys Volunteer Fire Department as long as his health permitted.
Services will be Monday, October 30, 2006 in the Tuckston United Methodist Church Chapel at 10AM with interment to follow at 2pm at Arlington Cemetery in Atlanta.
Memorials may be made to the Maxeys Volunteer Fire Department, Maxeys or the Oglethorpe County Library, Lexington.
