Johnny Luther Lanier, 83, of Winder was peacefully called Heavenward on Tuesday, June 18, 2024. He was a beloved father, grandfather, father-in-law and friend to many who will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Johnny was born on July 19, 1940, and was preceded in death by his parents John L. and Louise Lanier.
Johnny retired from the United States Military after 20 years of dedicated service, including 10 years in the United States Navy which was preceded by 10 years in the United States Army, proudly serving two tours of duty during the Vietnam War. He also retired from American Coach/Greyhound Lines after 26 years of driving charter bus trips up and down the East Coast.
Johnny is survived by his proudest accomplishments, his twin daughters Elaine Lanier Heath (Robert) of Cumming and Dale Lanier Nesbit (Ryan) of Athens, as well as his grandsons, Trent and Luke Nesbit, and Wyatt and Ford Heath. The family would like to express its deepest gratitude to Johnny’s friends and staff at Terra Bella for all of their love and care, as well as Family Hospice and Presbyterian Village for their exceptional compassion and care in his final days.
The family will receive visitors at Lord & Stephen’s East on Thursday, June 27th from 6:00 to 8:00. The family will hold a graveside service at Grove Chapel Church on Friday, June 28th at 11:00.
