Athens, GA - Dr. Johnnie Clarence Trice died Thursday, January 3, 2008 at his home in Athens, GA after a valiant battle with cancer. Dr. Tice was born in Clarendon, AR, November 22, 1931 to Richard Harold Trice and Lena Cleo Trice. After graduating from high school in Stuttgart, AR, he attended Hendrix College in Conway, AR and received a B.A. degree in physics, chemistry and mathematics. He received his M.D. from the University of Arkansas School of Medicine in Little Rock. A rotating internship was completed at St. Vincent's Infirmary also in Little Rock. His psychiatric residency was a t the University of Oklahoma Medical School in Oklahoma City. He was director of Forensic Psychiatry for the State of Louisiana for two years. Following this he taught in the graduate school of psychology for five years at the University of Georgia in Athens while establishing a private practice.
Dr. Trice devoted the last 10 years of his life entirely to forensic psychiatry and worked at the Baldwin State Prison in Milledgeville, GA. Dr. Trice was married to the late Iva Maye Trice. He is survived by son, John Richard Trice, daughter Charlotte Anne Trice, grandson Ethan Andrew Trice, and sister Margaret Ann Thronton.
A memorial service will beheld at Friendship Presbyterian Church Sunday, January 20, 2008 at 3:00PM.
