Johnnie Lou (Sorrow) Spray

June 12, 1917 — September 13, 2012

Mrs. Johnnie Lou Sorrow Spray, beloved mother and grandmother, 95 of Crawford, went to be with the Lord Thursday morning, September 13, 2012.
Born and raised in Commerce, GA, she was the daughter of John and Hassie Sorrow. She was married to Hayden Spray for forty-four years, who preceded her in death. She spent her married life in Crawford and retired from Spray's Beauty Salon after forty-eight years at the age of eighty-five. She was preceded in death by her son, Hayden Spray, Jr.; stepson, Bobby Spray; daughter, Doris Spray Taylor; sisters, Lois Smallwood, Grace Toney, Montine Hardman; brother, Claude Sorrow.
She was an active member of Crawford Baptist Church, Crawford Baptist Exercise Class, Tuckston Senior Citizens and Daily Bread. She was known as Mamaw to her grandchildren, family and friends. The love of her life was spending time with her family, working in her flowers, traveling the world over, playing cards, cooking and going out to eat. She was a gift from God to all who knew her and will truly be missed.
Survivors include her son, Gene (Janice) Spray; daughter, Sarah Lou Spray (Leon) Ash; brothers, Noble Sorrow and Charles Sorrow; grandchildren, Lamar (Terri) Ash, Lynette Ash (Mike) Gorham, Jennifer (Rich) Strozoski, Gina Holloway and Jennifer Spray; nine great grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; many adorable nephews and nieces, including a special niece, Catherine Bohannon who spent lots of time with her. Johnnie Lou and Hayden had a place in their heart for Oscar Bell, who was like an adopted son, as well as their nephew, Bobby Hardman.
Funeral services for Mrs. Spray will be Sunday, September 16, 2012 at 2:00 pm at the chapel of Lord and Stephens, EAST with Revs. Larry Davison and Greg Abercrombie officiating. Revs. John Parker and Anthony Watts will officiate the graveside service at Evergreen Memorial Park immediately following the chapel service.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 4:00 until 6:00 pm at funeral home.

Lord and Stephens, EAST, is in charge of arrangements.
