Johnnie Lou (Adams) McGarity

Johnnie A. McGarity, 93, wife of the late William Crawford McGarity, died Friday, March 22, 2013.
A native of Bowman, GA, she was the daughter of the late John and Lettie Hall Adams. Mrs. McGarity moved to the Athens area in 1995 from Elberton, GA. She was a member of First Methodist Church of Elberton most of her life and upon moving to Athens she attended Tuckston United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her daughters: Judy Sikes of Athens, Janet McGarity of Athens, Jean (Frank) Whitaker of Mission, TX; grandchildren: Angela Pope, Mark Pope, Jenifer Simmons, Will Pope, Ken Whitaker, Shari Courtney and Myles Sikes; thirteen great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, Marchl 24, 2013 at 3PM at Bowman Methodist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery, Bowman, Ga.
