John Luther Wood

John Luther Wood, 93, died October 9, 2011.
A resident of Athens for sixty-five years, he was living in Carnesville, GA at the time of his death. He was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-five years Pauline Watkins Wood, his parents, John D. and Ida Mae Barnett Wood, three sisters and one brother. He was a veteran of World War II and retired from Heyward Allen of Athens. He attended New Hope Worship Center in Royston, GA.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at 1:00 PM at the chapel of Lord and Stephens, EAST, with Revs. J. Mike Spence and Todd West officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Park.
Survivors include his son, Curran Wood of Nicholson; daughter, Shirley Macomson of Carnesville; five grandchildren; one great grandson; two great granddaughters; several nieces and a nephew.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
Lord and Stephens, EAST, is in charge of arrangements.
