Athens - John Snow Shores, 49, died Saturday October 31, 2009 at his residence.
John was the son of Richard Landrum Shores and the late Mary Alice Snow Shores. He was born on September 20, 1960 in Greenwood, SC but lived in the nearby town of Ware Shoals, SC.
John graduated from the Catawba School in Rock Hill, SC. He achieved a BA in English in 1982 from Clemson University and then received his Masters in Journalism at the University of Georgia in Athens. Upon completing his masters, he began working at the University of Georgia Center for Continuing Education in 1987. At the time of his death he had worked in this dept for 22 yrs and held the title of Editorial and Production Manager.
In addition to his father, John is survived by his brother James Shores and wife Barb Eason Shores, his niece Tara Eason Shores, and nephews Austin James Shores and Kevin Landrum Shores. He has left behind many loving extended family members and friends in both Rock Hill and Athens.
John was a dedicated and loyal employee who was serious about his work but could make work fun for those around him. He liked to laugh and clown around and always knew lots of trivia and sports statistics.
The family will receive friends Sunday, November 8, 2009 from 2:00 until 3:30 PM at Lord and Stephens Funeral Home, EAST, 4355 Lexington Road, Athens, GA 30605. Following the visitation, a service will be held in the chapel. All other times, the family will receive friends at their home in Rock Hill, SC.
