John Richard Parker

John Richard Parker, 50, of Bishop, passed away Tuesday, August 16, 2016.
Born in Owensboro, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Charles William Parker and Dorothy McNulty Parker. John was a longtime faithful member of Church of the Nations where he also served in the choir. He was a 1986 graduate of Cedar Shoals High School and had an Associate's Degree in Accounting from Athens Technical College. John retired from Paul Brown Motors. Most importantly, he loved children and he loved the Lord. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his brother, Steven Mark Parker.
Survivors include his brother, Michael Parker; sister in law and caregiver, Gloria Parker and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, August 20, 2016 at 10:00 am at Church of the Nations with Ren Buckland and Pastor Mel Holmes officiating. The family will receive friends Friday, August 19, 2016 from 5:30 until 8:00 pm at the funeral home. Honorary pallbearers will be Terry Wolford, Scott Wolford, Adam Wolford, Jaimie Parker, Eric Eley, Andrew Parker, Brian Geddings, David Gomez and Mark Benson.
In lieu of flowers, donations in honor of John may be made to Church of the Nations, 8780 Macon Highway, Athens, GA 30606. All donations will be used to benefit special needs children.
