John Ashton Martin, 56, of Athens, died unexpectedly of cardiac arrest on Friday, August 25, 2006.
He is survived by his wife, Elaine, and their three 16-year-old children, Austin, Avery and Haley. John's older son, Sean Martin lives in Asheville, NC with his wife Debbie and their son Terran. John was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where his mother, Catherine Martin, still resides. John is also survived by a brother, Clark (wife Kay) and daughters of Houston, and by numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Julian (Skipper), and a brother, Russell. John is remembered fondly for his off-the-wall sense of humor, as well as for being a loving son, husband, brother and father. In death may he find peace.
Reception and visitation will be held at 6 pm today, Sunday, August 27, followed immediately by a memorial service. Rev. Sheila Bookout will lead the service at Tuckston United Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Martin Family Trust Fund at Athens First Bank & Trust Co, 1855 Barnett Shoals Rd, Athens, GA 30605, to help with the children's college expenses.
