John William Ingham

Rev. John William Ingham, 81, of Colbert, died January 12, 2021.

Rev. lngham was called into the ministry at the age of 17. While attending Emmanuel College he joined the Georgia Conference of the Pentecostal Holiness Church in 1960. He has been active in the ministry ever since. Married to Rita Dove lngham in 1965, together they pastored several churches; Friendship P.H.Church, Macon First P.H. Church, Peniel P.H. Church, Fountain lnn P.H. Church, Christian Life P.H. Church, Calhoun Falls P.H. Church and Danielsville Evangelical Church. He also served as Superintendent of the Georgia Conference IPHC (1982-1994) and served on several boards in the General IPHC. He served as Georgia Conference Secretary, Georgia Conference Sunday School President, Editor of the Alumni News at Emmanuel College, Executive Board member and Chairman of Recruiting Board of Emmanuel College and Falcon NC Childrens's Home Board.  His Educational background was Masters of English Education, Bachelor of Fine Arts in Speech and Drama, Bachelor of Sacred Literature at Holmes Theological Seminary and Associates of Arts Degree. He taught at Athens Christian School; was Department Chairman and English Teacher at Bibb County Schools and an Editoral Assistant at Advocate Press. Rev. lngham has been in declining health during the last several years but his faith did not waiver. He continually ministered to everyone he met, sometimes even by phone. He was dearly loved by his family and will be missed for his love and passion for reaching those who did not know his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Survivors include his wife, Rita Dove Ingham; children, Melissa (Forrest) Pruitt, Rebecca (David) Clegg, Deborah (Mimmo) Alboumeh and David Ingham; grandchildren, Ryan Norris, Megan Norris, Cameron Norris, Mariam Alboumeh, Mazzen Alboumeh and Mya Alboumeh; 3 great grandchildren and sister, Rachel Robinson.

Due to coronavirus concerns, the family has chosen to follow the recommended health guidelines in order to protect the health and well being of their family and friends.  A celebration of John's life will be held on Sunday, April 11, at Danielsville Evangelical Church at 3:00 p.m. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2:30 before the service.  Burial was held previously at Athens Memory Gardens.
