John Courtland Howard, beloved son of Rhetta Howard and the late Jeffry C. Howard and Robert R. Poole, Jr., born November 18, 1976, died unexpectedly May 28, 2011.
Court attended St. Joseph Catholic School where he made lifelong friends, graduated from Cedar Shoals High School and attended the University of Georgia Business School. Court made many friends over his short life and cared for all of them; and in turn, they loved him. He mentored his nieces and nephews and loved putting their pictures on his Facebook page. Court was very devoted to his grandparents, all of whom adored him. He spent countless hours caring for and being the driver for "Pops" in his last few years. Court was an all American, traditional man who believed in God, Country and family.
Court was a Cub Scout, involved in Athens International Little League, DeMolay (a junior Order of the Masons), Young Life and a member of
Emmanuel Episcopal Church, where he was captain of an acolyte team.
Court is survived by his grandmothers, Blanche Carter and Ann Howard Kelly: two brothers, Jeffry Christopher Howard (Shannon) and Jennings Carter Howard (Heather) and Stepbrother, Eric Poole (Tavala), Nieces, Cadence, Charlese and Gwendolyn Howard, Alyssa Wood and Ella Poole; Nephews, Chase Howard, Harley Wood, Jordan Poole and Brayden Poole.
Pallbearers will be Brian Staniszewski, Stephen Krim, Ryan McNeeley, Chris Shea, Jason Meentemeyer, Jeff Dadisman and Matt Duffell. Honorary Pallbearers are Peter Rice, Morgan Gilreath, Chuck Galis, Carl Nichols, Pete Brown, John Perry and Stewart Richardson.
The family requests that donations be made to the Emmanuel Episcopal Church Building Fund/Chapel. Services will be at Emmanuel Episcopal Church at 1:00 pm, Friday, June 3, 2011. Visitation will be on Thursday evening from 6:00-8:00 pm, June 2nd at Lord & Stephens East.
