Athens - John David Hooper, 99, died June 30, 2009.
Born in Madison County, he was the son of the late Judge Ervin and Mattie Lee Hendrix Hooper. He was retired from Athens-Clarke County following 24 years of service and also worked with Roberts Electric Company. Mr. Hooper was a member of Hull Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be Friday, July 3, 2009 at 11:00 AM at Lord and Stephens Chapel, EAST with Rev. Randy Crowe officiating. Interment will be in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Donald Thurmann, Steve England, Morris Bullock, Spratt Bullock, Richard Hooper and Earl Wilkins.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Ethel Hooper; son, David Lee Hooper and daughter in law Joann Hooper of Athens, Jimmy LaCount of Walton County and sister, Gladys Burroughs of Neese Community.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday, July 2, 2009 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM.
