John J. Gould, 84, died at his home Sunday, July 15, 2012, surrounded by his family.
A native of Letonia, OH, he was the son of the late John J. and Margaret Mudger Gould. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Theresa Jenkins, and brother, Edward Gould. Jack served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corp during WWII, attended Carnegie Mellon University and was a member of the University of Georgia Catholic Center. He retired as a manager from IBM after 42 years.
Jack was an active member of the UGA Catholic Center and the Athens community. He enjoyed traveling, often with the senior group from the Catholic Center. He was a season ticket-holder for UGA women's basketball and the Gym Dawgs, and enjoyed attending theatrical and musical programs in the city. Jack was a gifted wood worker and an avid gardener.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Mary Chapman Gould; three daughters: Kathryn (Walter) George of Blue Ridge, GA, Karen (Timothy) Joyce of Watkinsville, GA, Kim (Ron) Morris of Lexington, SC, sister: Margaret Griffin of Windsor Locks, CT; and three grandchildren: Natalie George, Lucas Morris and Olivia Joyce.
A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 19, 2012, at the University of Georgia Catholic Center with Father TomVigliotta, celebrant. The family will welcome visitors at the hall behind the Catholic Center directly following the service.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Mary's Hospice, P.O. Box 6588, Athens, GA, 30604.
