Watkinsville - John Calvin Elder, age 56 of Watkinsville, died Friday, April 18, 2008.
A native of Watkinsville, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert Daniel "Jack" Elder Sr. of Watkinsville, Georgia. He was preceded in death by a brother Robert Daniel "Dan" Elder Jr.
Survivors include a brother, Courtney "Cokey" Mathews Elder Sr. and sister-in-law, Carol; and three sisters, Mary Elder Harness, Ann Elder Evans, and Flow Elder Wilkes. Other survivors include nieces and nephews: Dawn Elder and Michael Gray, Matt and Jodie Elder, Dan III and Ellen Elder, Jeff and Joy Harness, Chad Forehand, Michael and Kelli Elder, Quinn Evans, Jackson Wilkes and Bud Evans, five great-nephews and two great-nieces.
He also leaves behind his much beloved dogs, Jack, II and Lucy.
The family will receive friends at his residence at 1193 Twin Oaks Trail, Watkinsville, GA.
Graveside services will be held Sunday, April 20, 2008 at 2 p.m. at the Watkinsville Cemetery. Rev Lowrie J. Welton and Rev. Thomas E. Cochran will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Yarbrough, Tony Elder, Larry Elder, Bobby Matthews, Morton Smith, William White, Buzz Sewell, David Williams, Joe Guthrie, Mike Maxey, Matt Dipalma, Donald Doster, Jerry Wehunt and David Haines.
Memorials may be made to St. Marys Hospice House, 1600 Jennings Mill Road, Bogart, GA 30622.
