John Michael Dispoto

John Michael Dispoto, 61, of Bishop, GA died on November 9,2021 in Emory Hospital Hospice after a long battle with cancer. He was the son of Connie Dispoto and (the late) John A. Dispoto.

John grew up in New Jersey and worked for Toyota of New Jersey for 20 years before he moved to Georgia and then took his position as a Finance Manager with Heyward Allen Toyota of Athens, GA. The support from his Heyward Allen Toyota family went above and beyond the workplace.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, the love of his life, Julie Dispoto, his son John Jr. Dispoto, and step children Matt Akin (Lisa Akin), Michael Akin, and Marissa Akin. He loved his 2 grandchildren, Brooks and Alivia Akin. He will be missed by his sister, Michele Sweeney (Robert Sweeney) and brother, Michael Dispoto (Kelly Dispoto), his niece, Danielle Dispoto and 2 nephews, Daniel Sweeney and Nicholas Dispoto.

John loved going to car shows, visiting wineries, golfing, collecting watches and sunglasses. He occasionally enjoyed a cigar while cutting the lawn or sitting on the beach.  He was loved deeply by his family and his many friends. We are all heartbroken to not have gotten the time we so selfishly wanted, but he fought such a long, hard battle with cancer. During this difficult journey, John was always so selfless, not to anyone’s surprise, and allowed many laughs and smiles to continue on. We thank God for allowing him the peace he so deserved. He will forever be in our hearts.

Father Michael will be officiating the funeral mass which will be held on Monday November 22nd, 2021 at 10 am. The mass will be at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Athens, GA with a reception to follow in the Parish hall.  Fond memories can be shared @ www.lordandstephens.com
