Winterville - John Kenneth Cape, 50, died Saturday, August 22, 2009 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held 2PM, Wednesday, August 26, 2009 at the Chapel of Lord & Stephens East with Rev. Rick Standard and Rev. Palmer Rehberg officiating. Burial will follow at Athens Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be Matt Day, Harry Day, Kelson Looney, Joseph Arrendale, Daniel Cape, Buck Harris and Jake Harris.
A native of Athens, he was the son of Betty Jo Jacobs Cape of Winterville and the late Herbert Franklin Cape. He was the owner and operator of Cape Upholstery. He was a member of Winterville First Baptist Church where he worked in the Nursery for 22 years and was a Little League Coach for 12 years.
Survivors in addition to his mother include his wife; Catherine Day Cape; sons: James Thomas (Brittany) Cape of Cedartown, Phillip Richard Cape of Winterville; six brothers and sisters and their spouses: Fred and Mary Cape Dewitt, Neb., Margie and John Daly of Marietta, Frank and Karen Cape of Green Bay, Wis., Joyce Holder of Jefferson, Steve Cape of Winterville and Susan and Sixleth Rainmaker of Athens.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 Tuesday, August 25, 2009.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Winterville First Baptist Church Preschool Department, 305 N. Church Street, Winterville,GA30683.
