Alan John Butterfield, 61, of Athens, died on Friday, March 15, 2024.
Born in Pittsburg, PA, John served his country in the United States Army. After his military service, he worked in construction. He loved playing guitar and rock and roll music, especially the Beatles. John never had much, but he would give the shirt off his back to a stranger. John is survived by his "special daughters," Nacole Smith, Lindsey Doster, and Devon Jowers; honorary grandchildren: Caleb Barnett, Keil Smith, Kole Smith, Kase Smith, Cain Smith, Chevy Smith, and Ivy Faith Jowers; and special friend, Sam Anderson.
