John Benson Howard

John Benson Howard, 59, of Comer, passed away on Wednesday, January 15, 2025.

Born in Athens, he was a son of the late Earl Howard and Frances Freeman Howard. Mr. Howard worked for Armstrong and Dobbs for 15 years and then for the City of Comer for 22 years. He was a Volunteer Firefighter with Collins Volunteer Fire Department for more than 26 years. Mr. Howard was also an avid outdoorsman with a passion for hunting, fishing and camping. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Sgt. Henry Earl Howard and siblings, Patricia Shedd, Gloria Coile, Cecil Mauldin and Guy Mauldin.

Survivors include his wife, Tracey Howard; daughter, Gracie Floretta Howard Dumas (Jason); sister, Pam Barrentine (David) and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Monday, January 20, 2025 at 1:00 pm at Lord and Stephens, Danielsville. Interment will follow at Winterville Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday, January 19, 2025 from 6:00 until 8:00 pmat the funeral home.
