Mr. Billy "Joey" Hart began his dance on streets of gold on April 16, 2012. Joey was born in Franklin County, November 11, 1970 to the loving, surviving parents of Billy and Brenda Hart of Hartwell, GA. A man of great passion, he was a licensed general contractor and took great pride in his work.
Joey began a life with his bride, Tina Scoggins Hart, of 20 years on August 22, 1992. Joey adored his wife and referred to her as his "princess". Together they were blessed with three beautiful children, Joey Blake (18), Bryson Chase (17), and Kennadee Allyse (6). Joey loved and nurtured his children daily and was thankful for each day he was given with them. His teachings will forever live on in the lives of his children and his actions are now their legacy.
Actively involved in his community, Joey coached baseball and football throughout his life. He was currently defensive coach for Athens Christian Varsity football program. Joey loved people and he especially loved those kids! Joey was a great encourager and it was never more evident than when he was on the field. Joey had a way of using his gift of simple humor to help the boys believe in themselves and accomplish great things. He loved his team family and the coaching staff. Community involvement to him was often referred to as his way of reaching out to help others... . A leader by example he was!
Joey was an active member of Compass Church in Athens, GA. Serving Christ was his passion, making others laugh was his desire. Joey was also a great friend. He could bring out the best in everyone. Joey had a meek and gentle spirit, he was full of love and compassion for others; Joey was witty yet bold, humble yet strong. The community has lost a great man of God, heaven has gained an angel.
In addition to his wife Tina and three children, Blake, Chase, and Kennadee, Joey is survived by his sisters Rhonda Hambrick (Marty) of Royston, Carolyn Holcomb (David) of Hartwell, Alicia Simms (Donnie) of Lavonia, his loving parents-in-law Glenn and Carolyn Scoggins of Colbert and brother-in-law Greg Scoggins of Athens. Joey also had many loved and adored nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Jarrell and Allene Boleman and paternal grandparents, Roy and Vader Hart.
