Joel Steven Salinsky

Joel Steven Salinsky, 83, of Watkinsville, GA, died January 10, 2025. 

A native of Brooklyn, NY, Joel lived in the Athens area since 1974. He was a son of the late Robert and Betty Raskin Salinsky and proudly served in the United States Army. Joel received his bachelor’s degree from Brooklyn College and retired from the USDA after forty-one years of dedicated employment. 

Private services will be held. 

Survivors include his wife of fifty-four years, Eleanor Farischon Salinsky; two daughters, Robin Gwen (Lance) Broeker of Atlanta and Wendy Ellen (Chip) Holland of Watkinsville; sister, Eileen (Steve) Rosenthal of Merrick, NY; five grandchildren, Madison Holland, Riley Holland, Charlotte Holland, Natalie Broeker, and Adeline Broeker. 

Those who knew Joel, knew his love of his family, all things sci-fi, and online shopping. He also loved his pets and all animals in general. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the local humane society.
