Athens - Joe Thomas Potts, Sr., 78, passed away Monday, August 1, 2005.
A native of Chattanooga, TN, he was the son of the late Comer and Carrie Potts. Mr. Potts lived in Athens for the past 18 years, and was a retired director of Pitney Bowes. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran, a former Mason, a member of the Lions Club and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Athens.
Funeral Services will be 2 p.m., Wednesday, August 3, 2005, in the chapel of Lord and Stephens Funeral Home EAST with Pastor Margaret Freeman officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Park.
Survivors include his wife, Lois Bullock Potts; a daughter and son-in-law, Margo and Alan Brown of Athens; two sons and daughters-in-law, Joe T. and Neva Potts, Jr. of Springfield, VA, and Wendy Pots of Los Gatos CA; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Honorary pallbearers will be George W. Dean Sr., James W. Hicks, and the members of the Green Hills Country Club Menís Golf Association.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, Athens, GA.
