Joe Mack Fielding, 75, of Watkinsville, went to be with the Lord on September 28, 2022. Born in Watkinsville, GA he was the son of the late Hubert Lorenza and Sallie Mae Fielding. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers Ned, Grady Calvin, Allen (Al) and one sister Mary Ella Burger.
Mack was a member of Antioch Christian Church. He was formerly a volunteer fire fighter with East Oconee Fire Department and was selected as Station #5’s Volunteer Fire Fighter of the year in 1999. Mack worked with Thaxton’s Turkeys until they closed and retired from Oconee County School System in grounds maintenance in 2008.
Mack loved his family, especially the grandchildren. He loved watching the Georgia Bulldogs, Atlanta Falcons and Atlanta Braves.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Mary Louise Fielding; son: Anthony Wade Fielding (Julie); daughter: Lisa Fielding Thompson (Marc); four grandchildren: Zachary and Madison Fielding and Katelyn and Carson Thompson; two sisters: Margie Murray and Vernita Morrison (J.C.) and one brother: George Fielding(Debbie) as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Friday, September 30, 2022 at 11AM at Lord and Stephens West Chapel with Rev. Jeff Wilkes officiating. The family will receive friends from 10AM until 11AM prior to the service. Interment will be private. Pallbearers will be Paul Jones, Johnnie Murray, David Hayes, Randy Wilkes, Bruce Thaxton, Eddie Thaxton and David Hayes.
