Joan Landrum Dunagan was born February 23, 1945, to Frank and Allie Ree Landrum. A native of Greene County, Joan was a resident of Watkinsville since 1970. She married Joe Dunagan on December 19, 1965. They were married for 58 wonderful years. Joan was a stay-at-home mom while her children were growing up. She later worked as a secretary for Murrow Brothers and retired from Colham Ferry Elementary School after working as a kindergarten paraprofessional for fifteen years. She was a charter member of Briarwood Baptist Church and an active member of the Sunshine and Joy Sunday School class.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Allie Ree Landrum, her sister June Landrum McLeroy, her twin boys Charles Brandon and Russell Lee Dunagan, and her granddaughter Madison Jane King.
In addition to her loving, devoted husband Joe, Joan is survived by her children Kirk Dunagan (Mindee), Kendra King (Matt), her grandchildren Karen Bufford (Brett), Chase Dunagan and Clay Dunagan. She is also survived by her great grandchildren Hudson Bufford and Mattie Grace Bufford. Joan’s surviving siblings are Doug Landrum (Vonda), Nita Coleman (William), Linda Thompson, and brother-in-law Lynn McLeroy. Her nieces and nephews include Sarah Teipel, Don McLeroy, DeeDee McLeroy, Stephanie Fountain, Michael McLeroy, Ellen Elder, India Caudle, Jake Thompson, James Coleman, Grant Coleman, Allen Coleman, Lydia Coleman, and Lacie Parham. Joan was well-loved by many great nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Friday, June 21, 2024 at 11AM at Briarwood Baptist Church with Pastor Matt Wethington officiating. The family will receive friends from 10AM until the time of the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Vision 2025 Offering at Briarwood Baptist Church.
