Joan Gutwein Sloan

Joan G. Sloan, 86, of Statham, GA died on December 27, 2020. The daughter of the late William and Dorothy Gutwein, she was born in Dayton, Ohio. She lived in Oconee County for the past 35 years following Knoxville, TN; Macon, GA; Atlanta, GA and Louisville, KY. She was preceded in death by husband Sidney “Stewart” Sloan and son Christopher Geiger. Joan is survived by children Laura G. Kendrick of Statham, Craig Geiger (Sara) of Macon, Cindy Merritt of Statham and Sid Sloan (Brenda) of Watkinsville, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Joan loved her family and church so much and enjoyed them more than any hobby she may have had. She worked in Real Estate for over 50 years most recently as Broker of Joan Sloan Realty in Bogart.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, January 3, 2021 at her church, Hebron Christian in Winder at 2:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to benefit anyone struggling in need as Joan loved and wanted to care for everyone.
