Joan E. Sidner, 90, died peacefully with her beloved husband Max by her side on December 29, 2023.
Joan graduated from Ashland High School in just three years. She was a gifted artist whose main focus was in oil painting. Joan became certified as a Montessori Preschool Teacher and taught many children in her home. She was a dedicated member of Cornerstone Church, where she gave art lessons as well as volunteered to hand paint large murals and set backdrops for her church’s Easter and Christmas presentations. She loved the Lord with all of her heart.
Joan was preceded in death by her father and mother John and Nellie Martin, and sister Francis Scurlock.
The service is at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at Lord & Stephens, East Chapel with Pastor Steve Stringham, Scott Sheppard, and Robert Sheppard officiating. The interment will be in Athens Memory Gardens.
She is survived by her beloved husband Maxwell Sidner, son Maxwell Sidner III, daughter Anne Sidner and granddaughter Rachael Sandlin and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
