Joan Dove Lockman

Edna Joan Dove Lockman, 84, wife of 62 years to the late Rev. Joseph Buford Lockman moved to her heavenly home to be with her Lord and Savior, on Tuesday, June 8, 2021.  Born in Royston, GA, she was the daughter of the late Rev. Hoyt Dove and Edna Ray Dove.  Buford and Joan pastored Whitehall Baptist Church in Athens, GA, from 1964 until retirement in 2016.

Survivors include one son: Joe (Ronda) Lockman; grandchildren: Amanda (Brian) Pierce, Savannah Lockman; great-grandchildren: Amberly Ford and Blaize Wyatt Pierce; sister: Rita Ingham; brothers: Ray Dove, Oral Dove; and dear friend and sister in Christ, Connie Tippett.

Preceding her in death: sisters: Marlene Carey, Frances Hicks; brothers: Jimmy Dove and Garner Dove.

Homegoing service will be held Saturday, June 12, 2021, at 2 PM at Whitehall Baptist Church with Rev. Dennis Cook, Rev. Jimmy Edwards and Connie Tippett officiating.
