Jimmy Dee Mattox, 64, died June 29, 2009.
A native and lifelong resident of Oglethorpe County, he was a son of L. D. and Hazel Queen Mattox. He retired from Ryder Logistics after thirty years, where he received an award for two million accident free miles.
Graveside services will be Thursday, July 2, 2009 at 10:00 AM at Mattox Bray Cemetery with Revs. Curtis Hammond and Raymond Duncan officiating.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda Butler Mattox; children, Jimmy L. Mattox of Sandy Cross, Bobby A. Mattox of North Augusta, SC, Tina M. (Alex) Mathews of Crawford, Tonya M. (Jason) Robertson of Lexington, Scott (Lora) Carlisle and Joey (Kim) Butler, all of Winterville; sister, Ann (Buddy) Hill of Lexington; two brothers, Roy (Lou) Mattox of Lexington and Robert (Maryann) Mattox of North Carolina; thirteen grandchildren, Michael, Melissa, Mariah, Josh, Nick, Peyton, Patrick, Bailey, Gena, Paige, Macie, Leah and Dustin; three great grandchildren, Gracie, Abbey, and Amanda; a number of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be David West, Holly Bales, Jimmy Arnold, Bobby Arnold, George Lamar and Bill Nelms, Sr.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
