Jimmy Maxwell Cranford, 81, Athens, GA died peacefully at home 12-13-2021 due to complications from Parkinson’s disease. Jimmy was born February 17, 1940 in Norwood, GA.
He was preceded in death by parents James Clifford Cranford and Ola Mae Johnson Cranford, grandson Jeffrey Alan Cranford “JAC”, brothers Ray, Newton, and James “Bo”, four sisters, Ethel Shelton, Anne Vickery, Gloria Jean Williams and Sybil Williams.
He joined the U.S. Air Force in 1958 and served 21 years until 1979 when he retired. He was stationed throughout Europe, Asia and the U.S. He was a veteran of the Viet Nam war. From 1979 to 2000 he worked at U.S. Postal Service in Athens.
Jimmy was a loving caring husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Annie Kathleen “Kathy” Mulkey Cranford. Daughter Pamela Adams (Mark), son Jeffrey Alan Cranford (Susan), grandsons, Drew (Brittany), Will (Brooke) and Kyle Adams, great grandchildren Graham, Riley, Camden and Kenley Adams, sister Pansy Pearson and brother Ronnie Cranford.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 16, 2021 at 2PM at Lord and Stephens East Chapel. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1PM until 2PM prior to the service at the funeral home.
